April 1st. Oh, the horror. I know that was April Fools Day, but seriously, this is real. We’ve been having bug problems, and we have been for quite a while. Like, there were ants in the dust pile when we were sweeping. Those were the first bugs we saw. But now, there are spiders and cockroaches. It’s disgusting. And on Wednesday (April 1st), Emma woke up with a strange bluish spot on her left arm. It looked like a bruise, but Emma said it didn’t feel like one. She was crying, and said it stung and burned, unlike a bruise. Soon, the next day, it started eating at her skin. It turned pink, and went all the way down to the bone. When Mom saw this, as you can imagine, she rushed her to the doctor right away, confused and worried, like any mother would be. The doctor, the second he saw it said, “It is a brown recluse bite.” After he said that, Mom was instantly freaked out, and so was I. We knew that there was no cure for a recluse bite, because Dad got one in the army, and nearly died. No kidding. Ask him if you don’t believe me. I swear, it’s true. And look up ‘brown recluse’ on the Internet. It’ll tell you it’s real, and tell you that they are dangerous. Anyway, the doctor called in the head doctor, the one who was running the clinic. He referred us to the Baylor emergency clinic. It would normally be a 15 to 20 minute drive, but they used the ambulance truck, so it was about 7 minutes. That was my first time in a ambulance truck, and it was SO COOL!! Although, Emma didn’t think so. She was to panicked to enjoy it. When we got to Baylor hospital, they rushed her in on this cot thing with wheels. But we had to wait in the waiting room. Mom got to go with Emma, and I wanted to also, but they wouldn’t let me. We sat, very bored, for about an hour and a half, Mom checking in on us occasionally. Anja was quite entertained, because there was this kids room where they had a few legos, and a movie was on. I didn’t go in there, though, because the movie was Barny… or, Barnie? And… well, that’s not my type of movie. Finally, Mom came in and explained to us what was going on. Apparently, Emma was only alive on fluids–or… whatever that stuff is that she stayed alive on. You know, that stuff in the tubes? The stuff that–oh, whatever. The point is, she was only alive because of something that’s not… well… natural? And the doctors said she was lucky to have gotten here when she did, because about 20 minutes after she got there, her heart stopped. And so they put her on that… that stuff I mentioned earlier. And she’s going to have to stay there for a few weeks, maybe months, depending on how it all works out. So now here I am, teary eyed and worried, typing this post. What will happen? My sister’s life is in the hands of God, and hopefully he won’t let go. Please pray. I am very worried. Worried that you guys reading this post will discover… will discover that this whole thing is just a April Fools Day trick. Oops. He, he.
